1. Eravikulam National Park

The Eravikulam National Park is established for the protection of Nilgiri Tahr. Rajamalai is the small hill station present inside the Eravikulam National Park. For adventure freaks park also offer trekking. The main body of the park consists of rolling hill plateau. The park is the home of almost half population of Nilgiri Thar. The park also has other mammals like lion-tailed macaques, gaur and sambar deer. Tiger, Jungle Cat, Wild Dog, Golden Jackal and Leopard are some main predators of the park. Many bird species are also recorded here like Nilgiri wood pigeon, Nilgiri Pipit, white-bellied shortwing and also Nilgiri flycatcher. 2. Mattupetty Dam

Mattupetty Dam is located near Munnar in Idukki district. The dam is 13 km from Munnar. It one of the most pleasant spots for tourists in Munnar situated on the Top Station Road. Every year tourists visit Mattupetty Dam because of it's beauty and direct connection with nature every year it attract lots of tourists. The Dam along with lake is surrounded by green hills and Tea plantations which purely compliments the natural theme of Dam. Also from the nabour forest elephants usually came to take bath in the lake. 3. Kundala lake

Kundala is located 20 km up to the top from Munnar. It is situated at 1700 meters above from the sea level. In Kundala, Cherry Blossom appears twice in a year and also the special flower called Neela Kurunji which bloom once in twelve years is found in the hills around Kundala lake. Kundala is like paradise for photography it contains green lands, magical landscapes and in the morning when first rays of sun fall on the lake it creates an amazing glittery effect which every photographer want to capture in their lens.

The Kundala also have an artificial dam which is Asia's first arch dam. It is also the major spot visited by tourists near Kundala lake. In the surrounding of the dam, one can enjoy green grasslands, tea gardens, and waterfalls. Aruvikkad Waterfall is situated near Kundala, one should definitely visit this spot also. There is also a golf course in Kundala Village which belongs to Tata Tea Ltd.

October to February is the best time to visit Munnar. Because during these months the climate of Munnar is favorable cold. August to September are the monsoon months but it won't rain frequently so, if you take a visit in these months you will not be disappointed.

How to reach Munnar, Kerala.

By Air

Unfortunately, the Munnar don't have their own airport but the nearest airport to Munnar is Cochin Internal Airport from here Munnar is 110 Km. After here you can hire a cab which will take you to Munnar.

By Railway

Aluva railway is nearest to the Munnar, it is only 110 Km away from Munnar. The Ernakulam railway is 130 Km from Munnar once you reach to these points after here you can take a cab or take a bus both of them will get you to the Munnar.

By Road

Munnar is well connected with Kerala and Tamil Nadu by roads. The best to reach Munnar by roads is take a bus provided by Kerala Road Transport Corporation will you will get from every city in Kerala. It will directly drop you at Munnar.
